Windurf Sail Stickers – competition & SPONSORS
Windsurf sails are often made from a mix of a monofilm sail cloth and other panels of Mylar. Mylar is the trade name for a polyester film made by sandwiching Dacron or nylon between two layers of Mylar. For these type of non-porous sails – where the sticker is being applied to a flat, smooth panel free from stitching or seams – we recommend adhesive Vinyl Graphics. For longevity and added robustness – your Vinyl sail stickers are always laminated.
However – in other cases we may recommend the more expensive Insignia Dacron stickers. If the sail is reinforced, for example xPly, a vinyl sticker will not adhere around the stitching and seams. Water will get under the sticker breaking the adhesion. Insignia Dacron is far more malleable and can be pressed deep into the seams and stitches making a far better seal between sail and sticker.
